We're getting a green Fire Legendary for this month, in the form of male Corrin. He's finally got the Hoshidan arc alt and he's been highly requested by the community on Twitter. Sadly, he does not come with Omega Yato, which is a shame, but he can transform like his female counterpart. So, without further ado, let's dive into it.
Legendary Corrin (M)
He's a green infantry dragon with Hoshido's Breath, which grants both Slaying and Distant Counter effects. If his HP is 25% or above at start of turn, he gains Special Acceleration. At the start of combat, he receives Omni+X based on number of allies within 3 spaces multiplied by 3, plus 5; max 14. Additionally, he has a flat damage-reduction of 7 from foe's first attack, including Braves. It also includes Scowl, pseudo-Time's Pulse 4 after combat, as well as adaptive damage against ranged units. His preferred special is called Dragon Fang Shot, which boosts his damage by 40% of Res. This time, it includes unpierceable Dragon Wall 3, reducing by X% = 4 - current Special cooldown count value × difference between stats; max 40%. It also grants half DR-piercing if Corrin's Special is ready or triggered. Once his special is triggered after combat, he can inflict Divine Vein (Water) on the target's space and others within 2 spaces of target. This new Divine Vein effect acts as difficult terrain for ranged foes, inflicting Spd-6 and cutting their non-special DR by half.
His passives include Spd/Res Finish 4 & Atk/Res Ploy 3 as his A & C skills respectively. He has a new B skill called High Dragon Wall. It is basically a premium version of Dragon Wall 3 which now grants Phantom Res and inflicts Spd/Res-4 on the foe. It also has Warp Bubble against ranged units, making it solid fodder for most Res-based dragons. Not only can they tank better, but they can counteract warping to a certain degree. However, they're still vulnerable against Winter Edelgard. If you want full anti-warp capabilities, you should have Gatekeeper or Valentine's Myrrh instead.
Overall, Corrin can be a decent enemy phase omni-tank against most ranged threats, though he's not as strong as like Emblem Ike. I also consider him inferior to some of the top tier Legendary units due to no support capabilities. As a result, he may get worse as time passes. After all, his Divine Vein effect can be awkward to trigger as it relies on his Special.
Overall Banner
This banner offers great colorsharing value, and I want to start with Red first, which has the best colorshare. Both Emblem Ike & Emblem Marth are incredible in their own right, highly sought after for their Emblem effects and their combat potential. Kvasir might be mediocre as a Dark Defense mythic, but the high value from the Emblems compensates a lot.In my opinion, colorless is the second best option as it includes Askr, who's still decent for various strategies in Light season. Even though he struggles a bit due to Loki, he's still a great unit for his versatility. While Gullveig isn't the best action-economy nuke, Flared Sparrow and Occultist's Strike are still worth it for some of the older nukes. Then, there's Hortensia, excelling both as a support and a fodder factory option.
Because of this, I rank green lower because Corrin himself is not that amazing as a frontliner. What's more, he's colorsharing with Legendary Alear (F), another Fire Legendary, which is less ideal since you would not want to run two Legendary units of the same season either. Regardless, Rearmed Lucina is another great pick like Hortensia's case.
Last but not least, blue is the least appealing option because of Legendary Fae, who diminishes its entire value. I wish they'd moved her to the Remix pool at the last minute, since she's already an outclassed omni-tank, and has to wait for her refine in early 2025. Other than that, you have Mythic Lumera who can support your frontliners, and Legendary Shez (F), a decent nuke who can get better with some investment.
Final Thoughts + Next Reruns?
This banner is quite stacked, aside than Fae. Although Corrin may be underwhelming as a frontliner, most of the value lies with the red Emblem units, so I believe most people will definitely be summoning for either of these two. Thus, a great choice for a new player's banner. With over 300 orbs, I will definitely be summoning for a few copies of Emblem Ike as he's my favorite.
Speaking of which, Emblem Ike is scheduled to return in August, where he could potentially colorshare with a new Legendary. Furthermore, both Emblem Marth and Legendary Corrin (M) are set to return in September, and if you don't have Marth yet, you'd better consider get one copy of him as he's colorsharing with Legendary Yuri, who's already considered mediocre.
Let me know if you're excited about the double Emblem colorsharing. Thank you so much for reading my thoughts and be sure to save your precious orbs.
