GALEFORCE GALLOPS - Bridal Banner Review 2024

The awaited Bridal banner is finally here, so let's take a look at these powerful units.

Bridal Embla

As guessed from the silhouette two days ago, Embla is back with even more skills in store.

Her weapon Closing Florets, grants Slaying and Canto (Rem+1), and if her HP is 25% or more at the start of turn, she can accelerate Specials by 2 for herself and allies, specifically supports and the one with the highest Spd. She will accelerate the Special by 1 if its cooldown count is 1 less than its max value. Then, at start of combat, she grants bonuses to all of her stats based on the number of foes within 3 rows and 3 columns multiplied by 5, plus 5; max 14. She can deal true damage = 20% of her Spd, reducing damage by the same amount. However, these effects do not apply to AOEs, and also, if she transforms, she gets Atk+2 and moves 1 extra space.

She also has Atk/Spd Wild which is nice, and Beast Assault 4, which inflicts Spd/Def-4 and cuts through foe's DR by half. It's a great skill for your beast units as damage-reduction is becoming more prominent.

Lastly, she has Absolute Closure, a side upgrade to Severance, adding Null-Follow Up and Omni+4 when transformed.

I heard that this Embla is better than her Mythic counterpart. Not only she's blessable, but she can synergize with Galeforce teams and shut down Save units inside her Proximity, which is great for AR- Offense teams. Her offensive capabilities have also improved, allowing her to deal more damage and retreat like a hit-and-run unit. Therefore, a solid improvement from the God of Closure, who's slowly falling out of relevance.

Bridal Lapis

Nice! It's my favorite girl from Engage, in that lovely dress! Her art is so attractive that I'm really torn about whether I should get her or not.

Anyway, she comes with Slaying and Canto (Rem+1), and if she has entered combat, allies within 5 spaces can warp to anywhere within 2 spaces of her. On player phase or if she's within 2 spaces of an ally, she gets Omni+5 and true bonuses to all stats based on 15% of her Spd during combat, and she deals true damage equal to 20% of her Spd, again excluding AOEs. She then reduces damage from foe's first attack (including braves) by 80% if anyone initiates first combat; otherwise, 40%.

If Lapis fights first, after combat, she deals 10 damage to both the target and foes within 2 spaces, and they will suffer from Shared Spoils. This inflicts -5 to all stats and cancels all foes' DR effects. Anyone who defeats that foe will grant another action to themselves, which sounds interesting. As a pseudo-support unit, Lapis needs to survive to be effective, which is why she comes with Escutcheon.

Her passives include Flared Sparrow and Panic Smoke 4 as her A & C skills respectively, and the upgraded Flow Guard 4, which now inflicts additional Spd/Def-4 and Scowl on foe. It's a very strong skill for all melee cavs and fliers as they can benefit from the Scowl effect.

Lapis proves to be a very strong jack-of-all trades unit, but being a cavalry unit means she has trouble navigating through difficult terrain. Additionally, she might be underrated because of needing to fight and survive before activating Guidance and Galeforce effects.

Bridal Nel

I did not expect Nel to be here this early, but at least we got a decent demote for fodder.

Dragonbloom+ grants Omni+4 and deals true damage = 15% of her Spd during player phase or if within 2 spaces of an ally. It also grants damage reduction and it's a copy-and-paste of Lapis' weapon. Nel may be a generic dragon for now, but Atk/Spd Scowl 3 and Counter Roar 3 are quite valuable for low-cost inheritance.

Bridal Sharena + Veronica

We finally got a Sharena alt after so many years of neglect! Everyone in the community can now rejoice for this one. She even pairs up with Veronica as a tribute to Book VI's ending.

She has United Bouquet, which grants Slaying, and at the start of turn, if she has more than 25% HP, she grants Atk/Spd+6 and extra movement to herself. At start of combat, under the same HP criteria, she grants Omni+14 at max based on the number of allies within 3 rows and 3 columns, multiplied by 3, plus 5. She also gets Null-Follow Up, true damage based on 20% of her Spd, and restores a ton of HP to herself via the Clash effect.

No Quarter is a great Special, and we have Atk/Spd Excel already - an early powercrept Clash! This time, it deals additional flat damage as well as grants flat DR by X times 3, based on the number of spaces moved. Maybe it's so that fast cavs like her have some chance to survive during player phase.

Potent 4 is a cherry on top of her nuking capabilities, and she comes with Forever Yours as her preferred C skill. It grants Canto (Dist, +1;Max 4), and if she initiates combat of is within 3 spaces of an ally, she gets Omni+4, 40% DR, and Tempo, which is rarely seen in cavs. After she acts, if an ally within 3 spaces finishes combat, she gets another action, and can re-enable Canto.

Last but not least, their duo skill breaks the usual Ninja tradition as it now grants another action to themselves, and re-enabling Canto after combat.

Sharena is quite a formidable force for Galeforce strategies, being able to act again as if her ally is Brave Marianne. If paired with units like Embla, who can help accelerate Specials, and with Galeforce followed by her duo skill, she can act up to 4 times in one turn, surpassing Gullveig who can do thrice. Shout out to FEHology for the princess's triumphant return. She's going to wreak some havoc on Aether Raids, as if Galeforce powercreep is not that enough.

Final Thoughts + Will I Summon?

Overall, this is essentially a Galeforce banner, and Sharena is undoubtedly the star of this banner. Both she and Lapis can act as pseudo-refreshers, while Embla can make Galeforce easier to trigger, albeit not having Guidance support. With that said, I can see these units having a significant impact on AR-Offense, so if you're a fan of Galeforce strategies, I would encourage giving this banner a go.

For now, I'll wait for the insane colorsharing of Emblems at the end of this month, as I'd love to get a few more copies of Ike. After all, this banner lasts for a month, and I might consider pulling for Sharena if my orb budget allows.

Let me know if you're excited for this banner. Thank you so much for reading my thoughts and I hope you have some succulent summons, just like Bridal Sharena breaking the action-rule!
